I was always loved taking photos and being in photos, but never thought of doing it professionally. In 2012, I met Nadine Sachiko from Sachiko Studios and didn't know how much of an impact she would make on my life.
I was pretty good about blogging after every shoot before, but I got kind of lazy and stopped. As a reintroduction to my blog, I thought it might be good to do a reflections post on the start of T. Wu Photography for those of you who are interested.
I was always loved taking photos and being in photos, but never thought of doing it professionally. In 2012, I met Nadine Sachiko from Sachiko Studios and didn't know how much of an impact she would make on my life. I returned to the Santa Anita Park for another session with Arcadia High School senior, Angela. This session was more adventurous than the last with climbing on walls and venturing to the opposite side of the park. Angela did this all in heels! Congratulations Angela and the Class of 2014! May UC Riverside treat you well next year! :)
Last week I had the pleasure of not only shooting for Susie, but I also got to shoot this senior portrait session with Arcadia High School student, Ashley. On a bright an sunny day, we did the shoot at the Santa Anita Park. Though unsure of what to do, Ashley let her silly side come out as she started goofing around. With spinning, jumping around, and climbing on trees, I got some great shots of her being her fun and spirited self. Congratulations to the Class of 2014!
Last week, I had the pleasure of taking some business head shots for Susie, a USC Marshall School of Business student. During the shoot, we got to explore USC's beautiful campus. Whenever I had to make Susie smile, all I would have to do is mention her boyfriend Patrick. Every time he was mentioned, she would laugh and I just snapped away!
When the day began, I was a little worried about the overcast while shooting at the Arcadia Arboretum. By the time of the shoot, it was a beautiful day with a lovely couple. Malissa and Cullen have been dating for a little more than a year and you can sense the immediate connection when hanging out with them. They have a silly relationship filled with lots of teasing and love that reflects directly in their photos. Aside from the laughs and jokes, their love for each other came out naturally without me even having to pose them.
I had the pleasure of second shooting with Sachiko Studios at this engagement shoot for May and Alex at the San Gabriel Mission. I learned a lot about how Nadine works with her clients to capture natural smiles. At this shoot, I also worked with her husband Benson and was taught to focus on little details otherwise unnoticed. The San Gabriel Mission was a great spot to capture many elegant pictures of the couple. They came with not just one-- but two outfits that transformed brought a feeling of elegance and sophistication.
I had the pleasure of second shooting with Sachiko Studios for this family shoot with the Wang family. With a beautiful family, the shoot focused on one 15-month-old who seemed to only happy holding oranges, his giant dog, or billiard balls. After getting the help of his fun grandma and grandpa, we got some beautiful pictures of little Brody. By the end of the shoot, he seemed to have warmed up to us because he kept trying to get me to give him a kiss on the cheek!
This shoot with Christine was actually my first photo shoot on my own, so I was a little nervous. However, Christine made everything so easy for me because it turns out that she's a natural model even though this was her first photo shoot! She pretty much knew how to pose and had her model faces ready for me to snap away. It was quite a windy day at Angel's Flight, so we got in some great Marilyn Monroe-esque photos. As a matter of fact, after she made one of these photos her profile picture on Facebook, she got over 200 likes in one day!
On this beautiful day, I had the wonderful opportunity to shoot Elise's 6th birthday party for her mom and my mentor, Nadine Sachiko. The party was a lot of fun because it was a pirate and princess themed birthday party. With a scavenger hunt, wonderful goodies, a makeup artist, and an ice guy, the party was a hit!
